Results
A system number reads in parts. The first letter is the assembly that is penetrated — F floors, W walls, C both. The next letter describes that assembly: A concrete floor ≤ 5″, B concrete floor > 5″, C framed floor, D steel deck, J concrete/masonry wall ≤ 8″, K the same > 8″, L framed gypsum wall — and a combination system carries two of them, floor then wall. The first digit is what goes through: 0 nothing, 1 metal pipe, 2 non-metallic pipe, 3 cables, 4 cable trays, 5 insulated pipes, 6 busways, 7 ductwork, 8 groupings. So C-AJ-5301 is an insulated pipe through a concrete floor and a concrete or masonry wall. Joint numbers differ: the first two letters are the barriers (HW head of wall, FF floor-to-floor, WW wall-to-wall, FW floor-to-wall), the third is D dynamic or S static, and the digits give the joint's width, not the penetrant.
